Statistics, and what they tell you

PressGlance stores every status change, every job and every fault in a local database. That's where the numbers on this page come from. Below, each chart is explained: what you see and what you can do with it.

Chart of pages per day, per printer

Pages per hour and per day

Pages come from the jobs the printer itself reports, spread over the run time of each job. So a three-hour job counts towards all three hours in which it was printed, not just the hour in which it finished. That way you see your real output per hour.

What you can do with it

Compare shifts and days, spot when output drops and schedule large jobs when there's capacity.

Availability within working hours, split into available, fault and offline

Availability within your working hours

You set your working hours. PressGlance counts only those hours and splits them into printing, ready, maintenance, error and offline. A printer that's switched off at night or at the weekend won't drag your figure down.

What you can do with it

See how much production time you lose to faults and maintenance, and whether one machine stands idle more often than the others.

Heatmap: when printing happens

For each weekday and hour you see how much is printed. The darker the cell, the busier. In one view you see the regular peaks and the quiet hours of your week.

What you can do with it

Schedule maintenance and paper deliveries in the quiet hours, and add staff for the hours that are always busy.

Status timeline per printer

A band across the day for each printer, with every state in its own colour. You see exactly when a machine was printing, waiting, in maintenance or in error, and for how long.

What you can do with it

Reconstruct a difficult day, or show a technician when and how often a problem comes back.

Top faults

All panel messages grouped together, with how often they occurred and how long they lasted in total. Sorted by time lost, so the biggest problem is at the top.

What you can do with it

Tackle what costs you most first. A tray that keeps running empty needs a different fix from a recurring paper jam.

Ink or toner usage per 1,000 pages

PressGlance tracks the level of each colour and sets usage against the number of pages printed. That gives you a fair comparison between printers and periods, even when one prints far more than another.

What you can do with it

Spot unusual consumption quickly, check your cost per page and order consumables in good time.

Jobs and alerts, down to the page

Alongside the charts, PressGlance keeps a complete history that you can search and export.

Job history

Every job with its name, start, end and page count. Search by name and export to CSV for your accounts or job costing.

Real page totals from PDFs

Connect the network share with your source PDFs and PressGlance reads the real page count from the file, even for PDFs over a gigabyte.

Alerts with duration

Every fault and every maintenance run with its start, end and duration, plus the exact message from the panel.

Pages per day, availability, the heatmap, the status timeline and the job history are real PressGlance screenshots with sample data. Top faults and ink usage are illustrations.
